Home
"One of the biggest reasons for starting this business was that I wanted to be home with my family more. My boss had been sending me out of town for work off and on. Driving 10 hours one way just to see my wife and kids for a couple days on the weekend was not my ideal life. Because of that pain point, we at Orange Electric do not even entertain a job unless guys doing the work can sleep in their own bed each night." Jean Michel Knickerbocker Owner, Orange Electric
Stability
"We want to be able to stand akimbo, hands on our hips, legs apart, ready for anything. For me, that meant becoming debt-free. I do not want to owe anyone anything I could not pay back today. We do not drive new trucks, but every one of them is paid for. Someday, we will drive new trucks, and those will be paid for in full too. We can stand at home knowing we are providing, or building a career that will provide, a solid lifestyle. That means food on the table, a good roof overhead, comfortable transportation, and some fun money to boot." Jean Michel Knickerbocker Owner, Orange Electric

Growth
"“If you are not growing, you are dying.” I do not want to die early. When you come to Orange Electric, you will feel a sense of expansion and a desire for knowledge. “I’m working on being better at my job” is not just something apprentices say around here. It is personal for everyone. I’m going to conferences, our team is learning new software in the office, and some of our guys are studying daily for their journeyman tests. We all encourage one another to improve each day in our individual roles."
"Extra"
"“Extra” goes with a phrase an old mentor of mine used to say when I was a teenager: “The world moves aside for a man who knows where he is going.” All you have to do is walk a little faster, and people move out of your way. That little extra pep in your step is huge, both mentally and physically. It helps move the needle on a job, day in and day out." Jean Michel Knickerbocker Owner, Orange Electric

Clean
"In the Boy Scouts, I was taught the concept of “leave no trace” camping. I took that principle into the workplace and teach our guys to leave every job cleaner than we found it. I do not want anyone to know an electrician was there because of a messy floor. The customer will know Orange Electric was there because the ground is clear of debris in our work areas, and often in the surrounding areas as well. Clean also comes into play when it comes to our team. We expect our guys to be clean-cut, wear clean clothes, and use clean language as you present with them." Jean Michel Knickerbocker Owner, Orange Electric
Respectful
"Sadly, this must be defined. I will fire guys for disrespectful behaviors. Coming to work smelling awful— (we are all in the work truck together here, man)—is not allowed. Talking back as an apprentice, as if you know more than your journeyman, isn't acceptable. Talking down to, degrading, swearing at, name-calling co-workers, will get a team member fired quickly around here. All that said, the opposite is celebrated. High fives all around every day from everyone. Come to work showered/smelling good. Encouraging teammates up and down the hierarchy. Speaking with room for doubt with others. 'I may be wrong, but I thought' is a phrase I use to leave room for learning something new about a situation while I'm sharing my side of the story. Don't swear with people who don't swear." Helpful
"The mentor I mentioned earlier, (Eddie Hughes, a great man) taught me that I would always be welcome back in people’s homes if it was easier to have me there than not have me there. Take the trash out if you notice it needs to be done. Help set the table at dinnertime. Don’t eat them out of house and home. (I was 14.) How this translates to business at Orange Electric is that we are here to help our coworkers, suppliers, and customers. We know we will be invited back when their lives are easier because we were there. Helping suppliers through open communication about when payment is coming from the general contractor or owner. Helping customers by giving our all in idea building, execution, and scheduling. Helping coworkers by giving them the space to work and, when needed, the extra hands to accomplish difficult tasks." "Fast, friendly, and did the job we asked. And did it professionally. We’ve had people come and leave a botched job. They were clean with their work and then cleaned up their mess before leaving. Definitely would recommend"

"Called another company and was actually given a referral to call Orange Electric. They came right out and gave me an estimate, they were so friendly I asked for a few additional items we had been wanting done. Jean-Michel had a few of his guys here in less than 2 hours and they were able to get everything fixed for me right away. Wonderful work, friendly, prompt, very clean! I highly recommend you give them a call!"
Robyn S.
"We really enjoyed working with them. They did a great job communicating with us and the job was done quickly and smoothly. We have worked with lots of contractors and was blown away by the professionalism of this company. We recommend them to everyone who asks about an electrician."

"If you're looking for an electrician who knows his stuff, shows up on time, and doesn’t leave you in the dark (literally or figuratively), Jean Michel and the team at Orange Electric are the real deal!
We had them out for a commercial job and let me tell you—they lit up our lives in more ways than one. Jean Michel is like the Electrician Whisperer."
